When people think of food allergies they often think of anaphylactic reactions including hives, rashes, shortness of breath and other symptoms. The truth is that many people can be allergic to food, but exhibit milder symptoms such as headache, fatigue, heartburn, indigestion, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and lower bowel gas. This is called food sensitivities rather than true food allergies. If food sensitivities are left undetected, they can cause chronic inflammation in the stomach and ultimately leading to other many health problems. A simple blood test for food allergies and sensitivities is available in our office.
